The South England Conference
Women's Ministries Department
Caring, Empowering, Encouraging,
Supporting & Nurturing Women
We Will Go!
'Many years ago, as a child growing up, I remember my grandmother being part of the Dorcas society in our local church. Every Thursday, weekly, the women came together to distribute food and clothing as these were distributed into the community. There were boxes of foodstuff, freshly baked goods, Christian literature and other books that shared the good news of Salvation. These items, along with prayers for the sick, among other requests, were offered up for those families. The Dorcas society went into the neighbourhood to meet the community's needs as Jesus did many years ago.
Dorcas back then would be known today as Women's Ministries. These women were committed. Many accepted Christ through this methodology.
Women's Ministries could be traced even further back to Bible times in Paul's day, where he commended Phoebe for the work she had been doing in the Ministry of Women in the Early Church, Romans 16:1-2. They supported each other and practically proclaimed the good news of Salvation.
The South England Conference Women's Ministries Department endeavours to do the same in making Christ Known in our communities and beyond.
We exist to reflect the character of Christ while caring for; supporting, nurturing, empowering and equipping the women within the church and beyond.'
